The Secretariat of IUBS, International Union of Biological Sciences (the "Secretariat") maintains this web site (the "Site") as a courtesy to those who may choose to access the Site ("Users"). The user acknowledges that all forums and discussion groups are public and not private communications. Further, the User acknowledges that chats, postings, conferences, e-mails and other communications by other Users are not endorsed by the Secretariat, and that such communications shall not be considered to have been reviewed, screened or approved by the Secretariat. The Secretariat reserves the right to remove, for any reason and without limitation, e-mail and bulletin board postings.

Preservation of Immunities

Nothing herein shall constitute or be considered to be a limitation upon or a waiver of the privileges and immunities of the Secretariat, which are specifically reserved.


The Secretariat reserves its exclusive right in its sole discretion to alter, limit or discontinue the Site or any Materials in any respect. The Secretariat shall have no obligation to take the needs of any User into consideration in connection therewith. The Secretariat reserves the right to deny in its sole discretion any user access to this Site or any portion thereof without notice. No waiver by the Secretariat of any provision of these Terms and Conditions shall be binding except as set forth in writing and signed by its duly authorized representative.

Hypertext Links

The site may contain links to other partner (or third party) sites. IUBS does not have the means to check all such links, and cannot, for example, guarantee that they comply with current rules and regulations. This practice of providing links is authorised with the proviso that on one hand, they do not uphold policies or interests deemed contrary to those of the Union, and on the other that the user can readily identify the authors and origins of any given text.

Intellectual Property Rights

All contents (texts, videos, graphics, and images) as used on the IUBS website, are protected under intellectual property rights. Commercial reproduction of the information contained on this site, in whatever form, is illegal.

Photo Credits and Attributions

Credits and attribution in most cases accompany the photos placed near the image by the Union. Any copies, whether total or in part, cannot be taken without prior request made to IUBS or at the legal owner of the image.
