The TROP ICSU project was represented at four sessions on climate change education at the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 24) in Katowice, Poland, on 13 and 14 December, 2018.
The 6th International Conference on Plants & Environmental Pollution (ICPEP-6) took place in Lucknow, India, from 27-30 November 2018. IUBS supported participation of 42 young scientists in this conference.
The TROP ICSU team conducted a workshop for teachers at Kampala, Uganda, in November 2018 with enthusiastic and valuable support from our partner, the African Union of Conservationists (AUC). Over 60 high school teachers and over 70 university teachers participated in the workshop.
On October 14, Global Biodiversity and Health Big Data (BHBD) Alliance was launched at Beijing Institute of Genomics in Beijing. Representatives from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Russia, Singapore, and the United States attended the inauguration ceremony, which was witnessed by officials from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Science and Technology.
Prof. Yiming Bao of Beijing Institute of Genomics was elected as the Chairperson of the Alliance.
Meeting of IUBS's Executive Committee (f.l.t.r.): Hiroyuki Takeda, LS Shashidhara, Regine Jahn, Alexey Kotov, Lily Rodriguez, Yongbiao Xue, Santiago Merino The Board of the IUBS met at the Museo Nacional de Ciencas Naturales in Madrid, Spain, 10-11 July 2018. They discussed how to proceed with IUBS's agenda, set in the General Assembly.

IUBS, as a member organisation, attended the Funding General Assembly of the ICS (International Science Council), that launched in July 2018 as the result of a merger between the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC).
25th International Diatom Symposium, was organized in Seminaries and Botanical Garden Berlin, Germany, from 25th to 30th June 2018 by the International Society for Diatom Research (ISDR).
The TROP ICSU project (Trans-disciplinary Research Oriented Pedagogy for Improving Climate Studies and Understanding) is conducting a preliminary survey to understand how topics in climate science are currently discussed in the classroom in different parts of the world. It would take approximately 8-10 minutes to complete the short survey available in several languages (English, Catalàn, Chinese, Français, Deutsch, Hindi, Italiano, Japanese, Español).

The implementation team presented the pedagogical resources developed so far and the information about teachers workshop. WG members further discussed enhancements in the resources and suggestions about wider dissemination of the TROP ICSU platform.

It presented the project and seeked partnership especially for the quality control of the teaching tools.
