Announcement of 23rd International Congress of Zoology

The 23rd International Congress of Zoology (ICZ) by the Zoological Society of Southern Africa, which was supposed to be held in Cape Town, South Africa in July 2020 is now rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is rescheduled in November 2021.

Conference on Global Approach to the Gender Gap in Mathematical, Computing and Natural Sciences: How to Measure It, How to Reduce It

The 'Conference on Global Approach to the Gender Gap in Mathematical, Computing and Natural Sciences: How to Measure It, How to Reduce It?' presented the results of a three-year collaborative project (2017-2019), funded by the International Council for Science, of eleven major scientific international unions and organizations including IUBS. Final meeting meeting included findings and acheivements, discussions over the resutls, conclusions and recommendations.

Workshop on Managed Pollinators

Ecological Intensification in Agroecosystems: Application of managed pollinators to crop protection and production

We propose an initial Interdisciplinary workshop to assemble an international team of experts to address how to transfer this successful technology to crops around the world and to provide a win-win situation for growers from cottage industry to large scale plantations. A special working group is being organized within the ICPPR to allow effective communication worldwide.

More than 1,100 participants met at the joint 22nd International Congress of Zoology and the 87th meeting of Zoological Society of Japan. IUBS has sponsored one of the sessions and supported the participation of young scientists. IUBS's president, Hiroyuki Takeda, was one of the two presidents of the meeting in Okinawa, Japan from 15th to 19th November 2016.
