"The Cairo Science Forum: Science Diplomacy and Recent Developments in Biology" held on 19-21 November 2019 in Cairo, Egypt was co-sponsored by IUBS. The conference promotes exchanges between colleagues from all over the world and from all biological sub-disciplines – and beyond – in order to promote biological research across these disciplines.
The TROP ICSU team conducted a teachers workshop in Cairo, Egypt in April 2019. This workshop was conducted in collaboration with our partner Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Egypt.
During the COP 14 (Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity, CBD), the 4th Science Forum is organised by IUBS, the European Commission with EKLIPSE, IAI and the CBD secretariat. The objective of this Science-Policy dialogue would be to bring together and engage scientists and policy makers in a transparent dialogue, to recommend how to bring the post-2020 process forward. It can open new pathways to accelerate implementation of nature-based solutions for nature, people and the economy across different sectors, and on engaging wider parts of the society. The Science Forum took place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Arab Republic of Egypt, 23-24 November 2018.
IUBS sponsored the participation of 4 young scientists in the 4th Science Forum organized during the COP 14 on 23-24 November 2018 in Egypt. Renu Kumari from India, Sameh Hamdy Soror, Mai Abdelmoaz Allam and Mohamed Ezzat Abdelhack, from Egypt actively participated in the forum by facilitating the group discussions during the 2 days.
