Peter G. Kevan is University Professor Emeritus, School of Environmental Sciences, University of Guelph. He was Scientific Director, Canadian Pollination Initiative Strategic Network (NSERC-CANPOLIN) over the period 2009 - 2015. He has served on the Executive Committee of the International Union for Biological Sciences (IUBS) since 2009. He also serves as President of the International Commission for Plant Pollinator Relations (ICPPR), an international science organisation and member of IUBS.

Kevan received his B. Sc (Hons Zoology) from McGill University in 1965 and his Ph. D. from University of Alberta in 1970. He has had full-time appointments with the Canadian Wildlife Service, Agriculture Canada, Memorial University of Newfoundland, University of Colorado and University of Guelph. His global expertise spans the High and Arctic, Boreal environments, Tropical deserts, caducious and rain forests in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.

His research and general academic career has been interdisciplinary and international in zoology, entomology, botany, and agriculture with emphasis in ecology. His international involvements have included projects with international aide agencies in Canada, with the FAO, and with IPBES. His publication record reflects that broad experience with over 300 publications in peer-reviewed journals, as chapters in books, entries in ecyclopedias, in technical journals and magazines. He has edited several books and authored one. During his teaching career he has developed and taught over 10 different courses (some with IUBS support) for undergraduate and graduate students in Canada, USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil and Colombia.
