All scientific members are members of the IUBS - besides national members. Scientific members comprise international societies, associations or bodies that represent a biological discipline, or a discipline relevant to the scientific study of biology.

Each scientific member has one vote in the General Assembly which is one of the two govering bodies of IUBS.
